Charmander known as the Lizard Pokémon, is a fire type Pokémon. The Name comes from "Charcoal" (a material used to Create Fire) and "Salamander". They are selectable as one of three "Starter Pokémon" at the beginning of the games of the main series of Pokémon RPGs that are set primarily in the Kanto region (Pokémon Red and Blue for Game Boy, as well as their remakes Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen for Game Boy Advance). Charmander are not acquirable anywhere else in the main series aside from Pokémon Yellow. Charmander is a Fire Dinosaur-Lizard Type Pokémon. It's name is from the words char meaning to cook and mander meaning a salamander which is a lizard-like amphibian. The end of a Charmander's tail is alight with a flame, and the flame's status reflects both the physical health and the emotions of the individual. If the flame were to ever go out, the Charmander would die.

Charmandertwo is a clone of Charmander and is the result of an experiment conducted by Dr. Fuji and a team of Team Rocket scientists.

Despite never gaining consciousness, Charmandertwo managed to communicate with Bulbasaurtwo, Squiertletwo, Mewtwo and Ambertwo via telepathy.

Charmandertwo enjoyed spending time in Ambertwo's " Place" before suddenly dissapearing in front of Mewtwo and Ambertwo. This was because Charmandertwo had perished in the experiment chamber in the real world.

(Charmandertwo had markings over its body, which seems to mean it is a superior clone like the Charizard that Mewtwo cloned on New Island. Because Charmandertwo can communicate using telepathy, this may mean that it has some kind of psychic ability.)

Leon's Charmander was seen in a flashback scene. It eventually evolved into Leon's Charizard.

Fifth Round - Vs Ash Ketchum

Zippo was Ritchie's second choice Pokémon and was up against Ash's Pikachu after it just defeated Ritchie's Butterfree.
Zippo started by unleashing flamethrower attacks at Pikachu that struggled to avoid but Pikachu was showing that it was beginning to get tired. Zippo charged at Pikachu which connected and Pikachu was unable to continue.
Charizard originally appeared like it was not going to do anything but after Zippo narrowly missed with a flamethrower, Charizard decided to fight back with a flamethrower of its own which panicked Zippo and forced Ritchie to recall it.

Round Six - Vs Assumpta

Kanto Fair Presenter's Charmander participates in the Kanto Fair. The fair introduced the culture and specialties of the Kanto region to those in the Isshu Region.The Kanto Fair Presenter got Professor Samual Oak to do a special video introducing the starter Pokémon he gives out and then would show them on stage to the audience.

As a special treat, she wanted to introduce the audience to her Hitokage but it really pushes its luck a lot. While using its special move Ember, it got a little too energetic as it was the first time it's seen scenery different from Kanto's. It started spinning out of control and damaged the stage and injured itself. Ash quickly came to its rescue and they went to Nurse Joy (Isshu). The Kanto Fair Presenter was last seen leaving the Pokémon Center with her bandaged up Hitokage as Ash told it not to be so reckless in the future.

A Charmander that the Intructor used to battle Squirtle which was choosen randomly by Nurse Joy during the Pokémon League entrance exam.

Evolves into Charmeleon

This Charmander was Tierno's starter Pokémon given to him by Professor Oak in the alternate timeline.

Trevor's Charmander is Trevor's starter Pokémon given to him by Professor Sycamore. It was first seen in the anime when it was running around shooting flames. Ash Ketchum noted it was very energetic. Shauna (XY) explained that is quick to pick up a fight and it's always full of energy no matter the opponent. It particularly seemed fond of Clemont's Chespin and it actually burned it with a flame.

In the first day battles at the Pokémon Summer Camp, Trevor's Charmander actually faced off against Clemont's Chespin. The type disadvantage was still quite evident from their earlier encounter but the results of the battle were not disclosed.
