Ookawara Kunio is a famous mechanical designer, in fact, he was the first in the anime industry to receive the mechanical designer credit. Furthermore, he was the first to design a more "realistic" type of mecha as a request from Kidou Senshi Gundam - the originator of "real robot" genre as well as the cause for model kit boom in Japan.
