Ikeda Shouko was born June 18, 1975 in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan. She was an animator and animation director working for Kyoto Animation.
Ikeda Shouko went through the Yoyogi animation school and uppon graduating ed Kyoto Animation in 1996. She debuted as animator on the tv series Doraemon and took charge of several Inuyasha episodes as animation director. Her most known and well regarded work was that of character designer and chief animation director of the hit series Suzumiya Haruhi no Yuuutsu. The designs of the series, as well as the general presentation was very well received amongst animation fans and brought her to spotlight.
She was one of the main animators at the Kyoto Animation studio and was also involved in its management.
She tragically lost her life alongside 34 colleagues in the Kyoto Animation arson attack on 18 July 2019.
